Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor Kangana Ranaut are currently embroiled in a defamation case. Akhtar had filed a defamation suit against the actress last year. He had accused her of making several defamatory statements about him during an interview in July 2020. In a significant development in the defamation case filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar against actor Kangana Ranaut, according to a report, the court has issued a warning to the Manikarnika actress. She is asked to be present on the next hearing date.
According to a report in livelaw, on Tuesday, Kangana Ranaut was exempted by a Mumbai court from appearance in the defamation case filed against her as a ‘last chance’. The report mentioned that the Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan directed Kangana’s lawyer to make sure that she is present in court on the next date of the hearing. The court mentioned that if Ranaut fails to do so, Akhtar could apply for the issuance of a warrant against her, said the report.
Currently, Kangana Ranaut is not in the country. The actress is busy fulfilling her professional commitments in Europe. She is busy shooting for her upcoming film Dhaakad. Ranaut has been constantly sharing pictures and videos from the shoot location. Earlier, Kangana had sought an exemption from appearance for the day because she was not in the country and shooting abroad. However, Akhtar’s counsel, advocate Jai Bharadwaj vehemently opposed the application and sought a warrant to be issued against the actress, as per the report.
